The Witches of Eastwick

Witches of Eastwick ProgrammeThis week Shepton Mallet has received the finest acclaim any town could possibly wish for!

All hopes that were planted in October last year when BAPA took up occupancy of The Amulet have been realised this week as they took to the stage and threw open the doors of The Academy to welcome in their public.

Over the past nine months I have been privileged to have a glimpse of goings on behind the scenes and three words spring to mind: dedicated hard work!  My expectations were therefore high on Friday night as I sat excitedly amidst a quietly buzzing audience in anticipation of the curtain going up wondering in particular how they were going to achieve ‘flying’ across the stage; but what unfolded before me goes beyond anything I could have dreamed of for Shepton Mallet.

It is true that such a highly professional and polished performance was delivered from everyone involved, and that the special individual talent amongst the students leaves no doubt as to who will be going on to bigger and better things, but what I would like to give especial praise to is the fantastic team spiritedness that exists within everyone at BAPA to achieve none less than standards of excellence!

What more can we ask of anyone than they give their best and thanks to everyone involved in the Witches of Eastwick, Shepton Mallet has certainly had that this week. For the first time in a long while there is a lot to be proud of in this Academy Theatre and I simply hope that more Shepton people take heart from the experience and give thanks for the bright and better future that is being birthed right before our very eyes.

A big thank you to all who have made this possible. In my mind, you are all stars!

Fran Wulf.
